These youth typically come from rough circumstances, with little support, and often headed toward disaster. Support from grants and the general community have allowed us to serve these youth no matter what their past may be. Abriceana was a teen mother of two, and lived with her own mother. Her home situation became rocky and Abriceana had to leave with her two boys. That is when she heard about Covenant House Florida in Orlando. She was accepted without question into the crisis shelter with her twin boys.
Journalist wannabes usually know that they'll have to put in several years of hard work before they land a really cool job -- such as movie critic. Here we promote a select few high-school students into that cushy role right away. And Flipside! Engage and inspire young people aged to learn and grow to be responsible adults. Encourage and teach Club members basic knowledge and rules of games, such as billiards, foosball, table tennis, board games, etc. Develop good character in members through games and activities teaching good sportsmanship, communication, honesty, fair play, conflict resolution, and team work.
